Most days, it seems teens can’t get enough of their cellphones and social media. They’re constantly scrolling through their Newsfeeds, looking for the next trend and the latest viral videso. Plus points if they end up loving their work and post it on their social media for their friends to hit “Like!”
1. Pompom Keychain
You might want to grab some pliers for this pompom keychain. You’ll be needing them to cut the chain as well as to close the jump ring.
2. Marbled Clay Ring Dish
Start by rolling out small bits of oven bake clay into one big piece. Once all the colors are mixed, roll the clay flat, and cut out a circle using a round item as a template. Then, place it in a bowl, allowing the middle to sink into the deep part of the dish. Once you’re happy with the shape, bake the clay in the oven for 15 minutes. Let the bowl cool, and paint the rim of the bowl with a metallic gold color.
5. Convertible Necklace Headband
All my friends know how crazy I am for dual-purpose items, so this necklace headband is a complete gem in my book. To start, simply bend the jump ring with a pair of needle nose pliers. Once it’s open, insert your hair tie, then, close it to ensure the hair tie doesn’t slip. Finally, take the other end of the necklace, open the lobster clasp, and insert the hair tie-in.
7. Faux Leather Bow Keychains
Don’t forget to use strong glue for these leather bow keychains. You’ll need it to hold the bow together and to attach the centerpiece to the bow.
8. Knot Pillow
The secret to nailing this knot pillow is to think of it as a pretzel. Take note of the weaves and the knots of a pretzel for you to be able to make this DIY easily.
10. Faux Crystals
These faux crystals are so gorgeous, you might even want to make a few for yourself! Start by looking for jagged rocks. The more obscure the shape, the better.
11. Emoji Pouches
Do your kids message in full emoji sometimes? Then, I bet they’ll like this DIY. This tutorial only features one emoji, but feel free to create the other emoji faces as well. You can get your kids to help you out with this one.
12. DIY Elbow Patches
Elbow patches are one way to look preppy and chic! If you’re able to cut the patches into a heart shape, then your teens will have a super cute sweater they can’t help but show off in their Instagram OOTDs.
14. Cork Succulents
This is my little DIY project for all the wine corks I have lying around. Simply hollow out the cork, stick a magnetont the back, place a pinch of dirt in the hollowed-out cork, and fit a succulent inside. That’s all it takes!
16. Duct Tape Flowers
Start by cutting strips of duct tape longer than the width of the tape. Then, fold the corners to make a triangle on one end. Once you’re done, attach the remaining sticky part of the duct tape onto a pencil. Keep repeating this until you’re happy with your duct tape blossom.
17. Tape Nail Art
The spacing of the tape strips is important in figuring out how big or small your nail art fishnets will be. Remember, the smaller the fishnet, the smaller the spaces, and vice versa.
18. Baseball String Bracelet
This is a great idea for those wondering what to do with a ruined baseball. By the way, don’t forget to be careful with the X-Acto knife when cutting on the traced line to get the stitching out.
19. Sharpie Tie Dye Tee
Place a tee on top of a mason jar and secure it in place with a rubber band or two. Then, put different colored dots made from Sharpie markers, making sure not to let the dots touch. Once you’re done, grab a Q-tip, dip it in alcohol, and repeatedly dab the Q-tip on the dots you’ve just made. Repeat as necessary.
20. Anthropologie Inspired Mugs
Decorate your dollar store mugs with some Sharpies. When you’re happy with the design, simply bake the mugs in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes to make the design permanent.
22. Thumb Tack Word Art
Don’t be afraid to take your time when cutting out the word art from the foam board. If you rush, you might end up with messy lines and harsh edges.
23. Galaxy Print Tee
Begin by spraying your black tee with some bleach. Then, spray a mixture of 1 part metallic paint and 2 parts water. You could leave the shirt at that. But if you’d like, you could also paint on a few stars or planets. This DIY project can also be one of the coolest homemade crafts for adults.
24. Ship In A Bottle
Give your ship’s sails an old textured look by soaking typing paper in coffee and letting them dry overnight. Once it’s dry, you can place light pencil marks of parallel lines. This can also be one of the coolest crafts for teens to sell.
26. Flower Crowns
Be luau-ready with a set of gorgeous flower crowns. Don’t worry too much if you can’t find florist’s tape. Simply swap the florist’s tape for any type of tape in a black, brown, or dark green shade.
27. Custom Book Covers
Give your books a new cover by sticking on sheets of patterned paper with some Mod Podge. Just be sure to remove all air bubbles trapped inside. If you’d prefer, you can also sand some of the edges and surfaces for a more vintage look.
28. Peony Headband
The secret to getting the floral arrangement to stay on is to have it stick onto a piece of cardboard. Don’t be shy when putting on a lot of floral adhesives as well.
29. Studded Chuck’s
Give Chucks a whole new look with this DIY. By the way, be extra careful when piercing the shoe with a pair of sharp scissors!
31. Friendship Bracelets
Personally, I’m still not over the ombre trend, so this bracelet is one of my favorites. If you want to add more strands and colors, simply look for an end with an extra clasp.
33. DIY Bowl
The sides of your DIY bowl can be a little uneven once you’ve popped the balloon. To remedy this, simply cut along the edges until you’re happy with the sides.
34. Tin Lantern
Don’t forget to freeze your tin can before making this tin lantern DIY. Trust me, it will make it so much easier when it comes to poking holes through the can.
35. Stamped Hangers
This project is so easy to make. Simply get your stamps and gently press them onto a stamp pad. Then, carefully stamp your letters onto the hanger. Finish off your DIY with a coat of clear acrylic spray and you’re done!
36. Chalkboard Coasters
These chalkboard coasters will make for a much-loved housewarming gift. Simply spray a few coats of chalkboard paint on the tiles and glue felt squares on the back. Don’t forget to throw in a pack of chalk to complete your gift as well.
37. Marble Nail Art
Don’t throw out your Chinese takeout containers just yet! You can use them as bowls for your marble nail art. Simply drop in different colors of your nail polish and use a toothpick to swirl a design in the water.
38. Sharpie Rocks
These sharpie rocks will make great paperweights. Simply clean the rocks and get to doodling using a black Sharpie. The design possibilities are practically endless.
39. Glass Magnets
Punch out your designs and stick them to your glass gems using Mod Podge. Once it’s dry, go over it with another layer of Mod Podge to seal it in place. Finally, attach a magnet using a strong glue, and let it sit overnight.
